Activists Protest NYC Health Commissioner Mary Bassett Over Illegal Animal Massacre
Over 50 animal rights activists staged a protest on Saturday, February 10th at the Manhattan home of Dr. Mary Bassett, the Commissioner of the New York City Department of Health, over her ongoing refusal to enforce the seven health codes violated during a Yom Kippur religious ritual in which 60,000 chickens are swung in the air by their wings, killed in pop up slaughterhouses, and thrown in the trash.
